Saltaire

At the weekend I visited Saltaire which is a historic village based around an old textile mill which now houses exhibitions and art shops. http://www.saltairevillage.info/
The grounds were nice to walk around in too and because it has rained so much recently the river was running very high and fast.
There was a bandstand in the grounds and the columns had musical instruments and flowers around the tops.

...and a llama statue!

Sushi

I made sushi with a friend last week. As she is vegetarian we used carrot and cucumber.

Gardening

So it has finally happened... i have become my mum!
I'm not too ashamed though and she did give me quite a lot of help with it! Below is a picture of what the garden looked like when I first moved in.

Wolverine and Batman

Yesterday I visited a friend who has been keeping chickens for the last few months. (Will hopefully get a photo of them from her soon)
They are called Wolverine and Batman which is a little confusing considering they are both female. However it leads to funny stories of getting some strange looks at the vets when she says their names or confusion from the neighbours when she shouts "Batman, get out of the vegetable patch!"
She gave me 6 of their eggs which were huge. (The second picture shows one next to a supermarket egg)

So I had one for lunch today and it was delicious!

Drahos Zak

I remember having an amazing book called Murgatroyd's Garden when I was litlle and I tried to find images from it but couldnt. Instead I came across this version of The Pied Piper illustrated by the same person.
I love the areas of line art within the coloured in bits.

Bunny Nails

Another nail art. This time bunnies.

Sewing Machine - Axolotl Toy

I inherited my grandma's sewing machine and last week my mum taught me how to use it.
I can't believe how quick and easy it is to use! I hope to make some clothes or alter existing clothes in the future, but for now here's an axolotl toy!

Smaug

May I introduce to you....

...Smaug!
I bought him on Wednesday. He's 8cm long so I think he's about 4 months old. I'm keeping him in a smaller tank but once he's big enough I'll introduce him to Darwin, at the moment I think he would come across as a snack rather than a friend!
(Darwin: just over 1 year old, 23cm long)

More Nail Art

Here are two more nail designs that I've tried out recently. I wish my nails weren't so bendy so that they last a bit longer!

Apple halves

Avocado Milkshake

This may be my favourite recipe ever!
-1 avocado
-a big glob of honey
-chocolate sprinkles
-enough milk to make it drinkable
-blend!
The taste depends on how much honey you put in but I used just enough to give it a sweet edge, it was delicious!
(I think it would make a great ice cream if anyone with an ice cream maker wants to try it out!)
